There has been lots of speculation and discussion over what will be happening in series 7b. So I thought I would summarise what we know so far via cast and crew social media posts. Please be aware there will be spoilers, so don't read on if you would prefer not to know what's coming up in 7b.
Carlos Mapano is guest starring in 7b as Jerome, the father of one of the DG kids. It is not confirmed whose dad he is playing, but as Carlos is Filipino and in series 7A we found out that Taz is Filipino, we can make an educated guess! He will be returning in Series 8 as well.
We know that there were scenes filmed at a swimming pool, so we can expect an episode involving swimming. We know Finn is a keen swimmer, so it could be a Finn storyline. Also guest star Bethany Asher, who also has Down syndrome, was filming around the same time that the swimming pool scenes were filmed. So perhaps her character has something to do with this storyline, which fits with it being a Finn focused episode.
We know that Episode 22 Reunion involves a road trip in a yellow ford cortina. The story seems to focus on Mike, Tyler, Sasha and Candi-Rose
This episode also includes a character called Peader who is played by Connor Byrne. So perhaps a relative of Mike or another of Mike's disguises?
There is definitely something fishy going on! It seems there is an episode that involves fish. Possibly a fish stall or fish restaurant?
The finale involves a prom that the DG kids and Mike and May-li attend. Guest stars Georgia Sandle, who plays Piper, and Bethany Asher who plays an as yet unconfirmed character were both back filming during the week of the finale episode. So they may be at the prom as well or in other storylines within the same episode.
There will be more Jyler scenes!! I don't think there was ever going to be any doubt that Jyler would continue but this photo of Kia and Miles learning lines together confirms it.
Carma Hylton's younger sister Tink was involved in filming for 7B for a week to stand in as Candi-rose in some scenes. This suggests there is a big Candi-rose storyline coming up.
Anya Cooke will be joining the cast of the Dumping Ground in 7B as a new regular character Katy.
There will be two other new characters played by Geoff Berrisford and Kyanne Lamaya. Geoff's character is confirmed as a guest character (name unknown). Kyanne's character is called Evie.
Series 8
Filming will begin for Series 8 at the end of April and we can expect Series 8A to be aired in spring 2020.
It seems the majority of regular characters from series 7 will be returning including Jody, Tyler, Candi-Rose, Taz, Chloe and Floss. Carlos Mapano is also returning as Jerome.
